Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1

I am sure you have heard it before, "worship is more than a song". This statement is usually followed by the rants of disdain toward the modern worship trends as it relates to music. Well, today I will echo the phrase but I will not join the chorus of dissent. I happen to believe worship is a song but not just any song, its the song of a life fully surrendered to the love and will of God. This beautiful song called worship is expressed in many ways. In the sweet moments where God speaks and I listen and and I respond and He listens. It's expressed when He calls me to go, be or do and I obey. It is expressed when I give all that I am and all that I have so He would be glorified and lifted high. It is expressed in my desire to surrender to Him and be filled with His Spirit. It is expressed when I speak His name, share His truth and yes...sing His praises. This is my song and it is called, WORSHIP.

The gift of Romans 12:1 is that it frees me from any misconception of what it means to worship God. I can use all the metaphors in the world but at its core, worship is the sacrifice of all of me to all of Him. Absent this reality in my life, I will fail to experience true and proper worship. So, whether I express my worship through singing, praying, giving, preaching or serving it is a melody of obedience to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Being clear of this makes all of my expressions to this end like a beautifully written song that my life gets to sing.

Worship...the song of my life.
